Old Time Musicians Need New Images, and Why You May Too.

People don’t come to hear a show, they come to see a show.

Compelling brand images elevate your artistry, connect with your audience, and help drive attendance.

People can’t hear your music on a poster, CD sleeve, or online promotion, they can only see an image and read a few words. That image must convey who the artist is, they kind of music they play, and why people would want to attend a show.

When I set out to create images for these “Old Time” musicians, we approached it as we would with any business. Starting with an assessment that boils down to, “what are we trying to say?” Is the music blistering three-chord rock? Gently poignant folk? Swaggering funk, or something unto itself? Each demands a different visual approach. This is as true of images for musicians as it is for a bar, dentist, motorcycle shop, or what have you.

For these musicians, the images were conceived to compliment the sound — warm, heartfelt, and maybe a little nostalgic. Shot at various times and in different locations around Baltimore, these images were used for promotions and CD sleeves. Yes CDs. Old Time is in the name. You can see more images here.

Compelling imagery lets you audience hear you before you play a single note. Maybe your business could use a fresh image? Let’s talk. Start by sending me a note (I think you see what I did there).
